Haiphong is a large city with an important seaport of
Vietnam. Haiphong is near Quang Ninh Province to the
north, Hai Duong Province to the west, and Thai Binh
Province to the south.
Climate:
Because of the proximity to the East Sea, Haiphong’s
weather is affected by inter-tropical monsoons.
The annual average temperature varies between 23ºC and
24ºC.
Haiphong has many temples, pagodas, mausoleums and
shrines such as ancient Du Hang Pagoda, Nghe Temple,
Hang Kenh Communal House...
Haiphong has famous historical Bach Dang River, where
the national heroes defeated three Chinese feudal
invasions. The third victory over the Yuan-Mongolians
was known all over the world. Many of the teakwood
pointed spikes have been discovered in this river.
Haiphong is on tourism route: Hanoi – Haiphong –
Halong Bay. Do Son Beach, located 20km from Haiphong,
is a sand strip for bathing. However, during the
monsoon season, the Red River's alluvial sands cause
the water to turn yellow. From Do Son, tourist can
visit Cat Ba National Park, and continue to Bai Tu
Long Bay and Halong Bay (Quang Ninh Province).
Haiphong is also famous for many festivals, of which
Choi Trau Festival (Do Son Buffalo-fighting festival)
in Do Son Town is unique

Elephant Mountain |

Through Kien An
district, visitors will see Mountain Elephant (An
Lao district). Mountain Elephant looks like a huge
elephant lying between paddy field and blue sky,
with an area of more 1km2, 145m high reflected in
Lach Tray river. |

Ba De Temple

At the foot of the mountain
namely Doc, a small temple hide modestly in cliff.
It is Ba De temple, a famous one for sacredness.

Trang Kenh - Bach Dang

A land area, a mountain
area, air space "immensely miles of whaling waves,
gracefully identical with colour pheasant tails".
That is the land of historic relics of Trang Kenh
- Bach Dang in the north of Thuy nguyen district,
about 20 km from Hai Phong urban areas. It borders
Gia river in the south, Chanh river in the East.
There are grandiose mountains, harmonizing relics
and landscapes. |

Haiphong Post Office

In
1875, the French had founded Hai Phong and Quy
Nhon Post-office bureau, after opening the similar
foundation in Sai Gon, Ha Noi. The first nation
stamps of square shape with eagle decoration of
every size and type was published in 1864. |

People's Theatre Lake |

In French
domination time, it used to be a small lake within a
horse race course where horses were bathed. Thus, it
was called horse race lake. In the book of Hai Phong
city criterion published in Paris 1891, this area and
Hai Phong horse races with famous "jokers" comparable
with Hanoi and Sai Gon were mentioned repeatedly. |

Nghe Temple |
